Take a break, be silent!
Silence is a skill that one needs to learn in this day and age. It is becoming an enormous task to take a break and be silence these days. Internet and social media have invaded our privacy. One found out that one spends a lot of time on the phone and the social media wading through videos and pictures. It is becoming relatively difficult to keep one thought still and be silent.
Silence is something most people run from, and we are tempted to fill the silence with activities to keep the silence away or to reduce its impact. Probably, because we are afraid to be left alone with our thoughts, the haunting thoughts of that is pounding and prodding our heart. So rather than be left alone with them, we fill the days with one activity or another, till we fall asleep and the cycle continues the next day.
Silence is a powerful tool for advancement if used rightly. As defined by the dictionary, silence is the absence of any sound or noise. It is the state of being still, state of being quiet. It is the state of being quiet inside and outside. When we are in this position, then we can hear our inner voice speaks and gives direction to pending issues we might have around. Quiet moments connect us and put us in touch with our inner selves. Isaiah 30:15, In returning and rest, you shall be saved; in quietness and confidence shall be your strength. There is strength in quietness; there is strength waiting to be tapped into in silence. Be still, and know that I am God, Psalm 46:10. There are certain things we can never know until we learn to be silent until we learn to be still.
Being silent helps us to live life consciously and to be aware of our surroundings and environment. So, don’t be afraid of being silent. In fact, take it a step further, inculcate silence times into your day and experience some inner strength.
